A single red sandstone butte rises from a flat desert plain under a clear night sky. The Milky Way arches above it, dense with stars, while a faint glow lingers along the horizon. The rock is the only solid form in the picture and holds the centre against the depth of the sky. Deep blues and blacks dominate, with the warm stone as a quiet counterweight.
The dark palette gives this work presence in rooms with controlled light: a lounge bar, a home cinema, a study, a private dining room or a gallery wall with spotlights. It pairs with dark oak, leather, smoked glass and deep blue textiles. Light it directly and evenly, and allow at least three metres of distance so the sky can open.
