In a restaurant, a work on the wall becomes part of every evening and of every photo guests take at the table. It has to set the mood in candlelight, survive a busy room and be seen from a seated position. We help you choose works and sizes that do all three.

• Plan for the seated view

  Guests look at the wall from their table, mostly seated. Centre the work a little lower than in a living room and keep it clear of the heads of guests on the banquette.

• Warm light, warm works

  Candles and amber spotlights shift every colour toward gold. Desert, botanical and warm architectural works keep their balance under evening light; cool blue works need neutral light.

• Easy to clean

  Acrylic glass and sealed aluminium can be wiped with a soft damp cloth. That matters in rooms with steam, oil and many hands.

• Secure hanging

  In public rooms a work should not be lifted off the wall by accident. Ask for a secure hanging system with your request.
